The Dreadful Experience
There was peculiar stillness in the air; not a leaf stirred; not a whiff of wind blew. It looked like calm before the storm. Unmindful if these foreboding signs, I set out on playing football.
Soon black clouds gathered above me but I was intent on playing. I hoped that the clouds would go away so that u could continue playing.
Hardly had I got into the empty abode when down came the rain with all its fury, accompanied by peals of thunder and flashes of lightning. The thunder claps were so deafeningly loud and the flashes across so terrific bright that I was almost frightened to death. I ran towards a large tree under which I had parked my bicycle. The tree provided me shelter from rain and I was tempted to remain under it. However, I knew it was dangerous to stay under it during a thunderstorm. So I got on my bicycle and paddled off.
It was just about he fiercest storm I had ever been in. The driving rain made cycling difficult as I couldn't see more than a couple of meters in front of me. A car flashed past me and it was just about to crash and smash me. It was too close for comfort. Perhaps the driver didn't even see me. So I thought to stop somewhere before I pound myself and clash with someone. This was truly a storm like the ones in the mountainous regions. After some time, the beautiful soaring birds were also not visible. For over an hour, we were held up, and during that time the storm raged and caused much havoc.
When the storm abated and finally calm set in, one could see the destruction caused. Trees were uprooted and roofs of the thatched houses were blown off.
Never did u witness a more horrible seen than this. I thanked God for my safety and secretly prayer that another dreadful experience like this should not befall on me.
